Hi,I have been recently approached by a recruiter for a Manager role at PwC's Strategy practice in London.I would be keen to get this forum's thoughts on this practice.I'd also welcome any feedback regarding the culture - I understand that the team has gone through a lot of changes recently?Any idea about salary bands/bonus ranges at the Manager level?Regards,James

Key thing is to find out which Strategy practice you'd be joining - the team recently split into Corporate Strategy (which sits in Consulting) and Deals Strategy (which sits in Transaction Services).

I have been approached to join the 'Deals' team. Would appreciate any feedback on that team's culture. Is there scope to also do work within the 'Corporate Strategy' team (providing that you have the appropriate skills) - or is there little cross-staffing between these 2 teams? Many thanks

Deals Strategy team is relatively small and under-staffed, so actually good project and promotion opportunities. Strong alignment with the partners.Corporate Strategy team is a tougher place to be, as it is expected to fit into the Consulting operating model which is very big and impersonal. Dysfunctional partner group. Some cross-staffing as the teams sit together, but not clear whether this will continue.

Its worth bearing in mind that PwC have recently acquired Diamond Management and Technology consultants as well as PRTM.They are obviously focusing heavily on the strategy side of the business however it appears to be through acquisitions as opposed to organic. Plus the PwC strategy brand is not that strong, after all they are a tax and audit firm. If you are looking for a defined strategy career, look towards a specialist player who will provide a recognised strategy brand.People will always say to you "i didn't realise you were an accountant" regardless of which area of PwC you work in.
