Hi All!I found this forum on the internet while I was searching for tips and advice on how to become a consultant. Here I found some interesting posts, so I decided to describe my situation and ask for advice.Useless to say that I am really interested in consultancy. My motivations include a good career prospective, working in large and nice urban areas, a good remuneration, possibility to travel. After years spent in research, I understood that being a researcher might lead more than sometimes to frustration, instability, limited career prospective (unless you are in academia, but even there, if you want to push forward your career you will have to leave research before or soon). I like working, I like the challenge, but I like interact with people as well.Well, to be more precise, I just got a Ph.D., even if with a not excellent GPA, from NYU (actually from an engineering school recently merged with NYU, but my diploma will say NYU). My focus is controls. I have a M.Sc. and a B.Sc. from Italy, some papers published, one award at a conference and one year of teaching experience as adjunct professor at my same department. For some personal reasons i had to leave NY and now I am searching jobs in Europe, hopefully London. I started looking into consultancy jobs some months ago, but I am not getting the hoped results. Would it be better if I contact a recruiter? Which are good and reliable recruiters (I had one in NY that was horrible)? Is it worth to move for a couple of weeks in London to get the chance of having interviews, or would it be only a waste if I can not receive any call by only sending my resume on internet?Do I have any chance by sending resumes online?I ask for any encouragement or any good suggestion you would like to provide.Thank you!
