I'm a remuneration and benefits lawyer thinking about making the switch to big 4 performance and reward team. The move is quite scary for me, as its quite obvious that once I leave the law firm environment (esp. to go to big 4) I won't be able to return. The main reason for the move is that there are more partner and promotion opportunities in Big 4 than in law. There are almost no reward partners at law firms, and the teams that do have them are usually small.I'd really like to know:There are two areas I could go into, the first is transactional, doing pre/post merger HR due diligence and integration work. The other is in hr consulting. Which of these would have the better promotion prosepcts, or are they the same? (FYI they are both manager level roles). How are big 4 partnerships set up - is the audit partnership run seperately to the reward partnership, for instance (and how is it run internationally - are they seperate partnerships?)I know this is a touchy question, but what is the average salary for a start / top of equity big 4 partner?
