I would greatly appreciate some advice with moving from my nursing job into consultancy. I am currently working as a band 6 psychiatric nurse. I hold a masters degree in Organisational Consultancy as well as a Diploma in Group dynamics. My masters degree provided insights into conscious and unconscious processes that affect working life in individuals, groups and teams as well as an understanding of what leads to functional/ dysfunctional individuals and teams. I have an aptitude and appetite for learning, knowledge and ideas, as well as an equally strong passion for the application of these in practice. I am skilled at learning and imparting new concepts quickly. I have experience in working at the forefront of a challenging client service, however, it is in a non-business setting. My current job does not allow me to fully express qualities which I believe would be useful in consultancy. My current job has allowed me to develop transferable skills such as the ability to build constructive relationships, use initiative under minimal supervision, assess, plan, implement and evaluate care and excellent communication and interpersonal skills at different levels. My current job is no longer challenging and is routine. I would like a career change, however, I am not sure how eligible I would be in management consultancy given my background. What sort of firms should I be looking at for this transition?
