Can anyone help? Been offered a role within a client and worried about restrictive covenants pre and post leaving. Anyone got experiences to share?

Restrictive covenants unlikely to be enforced: they will not want to p*ss off a client OR p*ss off a potential future client i.e. you

if you can have a grown up conversation with them (given that you only have goodwill as leverage) you can actually get them to amend your terms as part of leaving - I've done this in the past where the wording of the contract was over restrictive and not actually in the spirit of what they were trying to achieve, but I didn't want to leave it entirely to a tacit agreement..

I left a consulting firm to walk for a client that was a significant account. No problem what so ever - if fact they treat me much better now! (invites to nice alumni dinners, special receptions etc.) So as long as you are gronw up and mature i dont think there will be any issues.S
