Am I correct in thinking that the recently announced shake-up of the Criminal Records Bureau will mean that regular firms shall not be allowed to further request prospective employees to undertake a CRB check? The government statement from last week indicates that the shake-up will include punishments for employers or bodies that knowingly or repeatedly demand checks on people that are inappropriate. As consulting (in general) is not a restricted line of work from the government's point of view (financial services consulting withstanding) surely this means that any future request for such a check can be deemed unjust?
