Can you share your thoughts about the future of Capgemini, I saw their financial results and they do not appear to be making much money....will they survive or get acquired ?

That's a really good question. I've also had a look at the numbers and as far as I can tell the organisation still has lower operating margins than its peer group (although better than a few years back). This is a French organisation with "outposts" in a number of European countries, the UK, US and Australasia. Back office functions are in India. So, a tricky beast to acquire - certainly won't be a "hostile" bid as the shareholding structure will make this all but impossible (as far as I can tell anyway). Could be of interest to an Asian outfit looking to enter/build its European footprint.

another possibility is a sell-off of the heavily loss-making advisory consulting side and retrenchment to the core businesses of technology implementation and outsourcingh. dubious though as 1. it would be a humiliation and 2. nobody else is doing it - the big SIs are all still plugging away at the 'rates up via advisory' gambit, doomed as that may seem by now

Agree with both previous posters. Acquisition seems unlikely. Retrenchment is possible, as is merger/partnership with an Asian company. I can see them holding onto the more established brand in Europe, allowing CG to save face, while behind the scenes the business model is changed.Although the French state doesn't have the cash to prop up companies directly anymore, CG is a big enough name that if it became necessary they'd cut it a break with tax payments, pressure banks not to pull in their loans, or make sure that any merger/partnership is done a friendly fashion (as described above). In context though, I'm not sure CG is doing significantly worse than similar firms. The market's tough right now and even the Asian firms are seeing costs rising and fees being driven down. As ever, one big win/loss can make all the difference to market confidence, and that same highly uncertain variable affects the competition too.

Infosys have courted them in the past.. Personally however I doubt anything significant will happen - they have fat reserves and will trundle on...

not sure it's that dramatic - the $666m is renewing/replacing an existing arrangement, so is an extension of their current funding model rather than a desperate grab after new money...
