Don't know to what extent it's standardised across geographies, but my first-round interview with Monitor -which I failed miserably, by the way- about 3 yrs ago in Spain was not the typical Tier 1/Upper Tier 2 strat consulting interview (i.e. off-the-wall brain teasers & open-ended verbal cases etc.)I was given 2 cases, both on paper, a lot of text & graphs, with about 15 mins to pre read, followd by the interviewer entering and asking Qs based on the info presented in the case.Your pre read time has to enable you to gain both a holistic view of the strategic issues facing the company, plus a sharpness that enables you to answer questions that may require cross-consideration of data presented in 2 or 3 of the many different charts presented in the case. You can be asked Qs ranging from "what are the main risks facing the company?", to "how many ways can you estimate the projected revenue for next year, based on the info given?"What I would do differently: don't be afraid, as the interviewer asks you Qs, to ask if you can take 30 seconds to refer to the material before answering (no more, as it will look like you are a bit lost). It is not a memory test.
