Not so sure

Hello everyone,I was hoping to take some opinion.I have been asked by my CIO and office head to spend 50% o fmy time for the next 4 months doign an internal integration project that I may not enjoy doing. My targets will be revised and I fear that I may not get steady work as I haev to put in 2 days a week on the internal project.I am confused as I do not want to go to the bosses and say that I am not willing to do it as I may not enjoy it. On the flip side I think that I will miss opportunities on interesting projects that may come my way in the coming months.

EEEKK!!!Internal projects are the pits, man. Stay away! Not only do they suck bigtime, but you won't be getting the client exposure that you need in order to further your career.Plus the risk to your reputation is immense if it goes balls up.Stay clear!

Yes internal work sucks. But reorg work sucks less than most, as you'll get an opportunity to gossip about senior people's futures with your junior cohort, and maybe even get some face time with senior partners. At least ask your CIO / office head / reorg lead if there is an internal project code / WBS (and not the generic "999INT" where all scut work goes). If the answer's no, run for the hills.
