To be honest I doubt they'll hire you.You don't sound as though you fit with the Accenture model (i.e. most Senior Managers are between 8-15 years exp). I think with 20 years they would see you as 'not a right cultural fit' (i.e. given the grade you are thinking of, you're perhaps not a real high flyer, and if that's the case then the chances of you making Director or Partner would be slim so probably not worth hiring you). Also, unless you have a strong sales focus to your role you won't succeed. All SM hires need to have either a strong consulting background or sales component as you will be heavily targeted on it, and traditionally the people they have brought on without one of these fail as they're not used to operating in that (tougher) environment.SM salary 85-110k base + bonus + car

The first thing that came to my mind when I read that was "Age Discrimination". I very much doubt that a first rate firm like them would go anywhere near that sort of territory.

To be clear, that is basically what I was saying. They would never say it outright, of course they wouldn't, but if you have a guy who is SM quality at 30 and one who is SM qualty at 40/45, which one do you think has more chance of making Partner? It essentially is age discrimination but they would never say it. Also, you missed the point about sales - that is crucial.

What about all the industry experience and contacts a younger sm won´t have until now in comparison to my profile?

30 old SM at Accenture isn't unheard of but its certainly isnt the norm. I've seen SMs of anything upto 40. I do agree that coming in above 40+ you'll have a more difficult time coming in as senior manager

sm - unless you have strong enough contacts where you can actually bring on a client, then it doesn't really count for much. Plus, someone who is younger doesn't necessarily have less contacts (lets not be ageist).reality check - fair point, but it's much harder to come in as a 40+ year old SM (as per the original post - " 20 years experience") than it is to come in at 35 and still be a SM at 40/45.

more work experience doesn´t count for much, right? But with these experiences, you could be placed much better for advisory roles at c-level, couldn´t you?How do you rate chances to join them by offering a freelancer conract? Would this be more suitable for them?
