I'm 30, with 5 years of work experience since graduation and 2 years during school. I've got a Masters in engineering. My last 2 years of experience was as a consultant for a normal company - working with customers after a sale to define how they needed our product customized, and coordinating internal software development. So somewhat similar to a pure consulting role but different in some fundamental ways as well. Prior to that I was a software developer. Is it easy to transition from this into IT consulting in an unrelated area? I've been looking at the jobs available from various companies. For instance, Deloitte has tons of jobs for SAP consultants. Will they hire experienced candidates without SAP experience for this part of the practice? And if so, what level is typical? For example, at Deloitte could I be hired as a Senior Consultant with my background?I'm located in the US, although I realize this is a UK based site it is active and seems to have a lot of knowledgeable people so I'm hoping to get some guidance. Thanks!
