Having read the requirements for joining ATK at Snr Bus Analyst level, I think I would fit right in. However, my CV has a significant downfall. Can somebody at the firm (or well-versed in industry standards) please rate my chances?Negative Point:Attended a non-prestigious, 2nd tier Institution for my Bachelor's Degree (average A-Level results - was going through a tough time at home with family problems)Positive Points:- Buckled down once I started my degree, and got a 1st- Completed a very prestigious MSc (Top 3 in the world according to FT)- Fluent (perfectly) in 3 languages- Qualified Accountant- Significant international experienceExperience:.Strategy Boutique (Internship).Large Bank: Capital Markets - 1 year.Corporate Blue Chip: Commercial Finance - 2 yearsI've studied with people now at MBB, and I know I am every bit as capable. However, I also know an impeccable academic record is important. If I really have no chance, I'll save myself the frustration, and ATK the hassle. Thanks in advance for your open responses.

A&H,I'd apply - what have you got to lose? As an ex-ATKer (a few years ago) - I'd certainly say you'd get through the cv screen - once in at the interview then its in your hands not that of your a-level results.FYI - I made it in post-MBA with a 2:2 in my undergrad - only time it came up was in final interview. Asked by partner if i regretted the grade - answer 'Yes' ; that was all. Unless pushed do not justify with family problems etc. Do not focus on it, move on - give the interviewer positive things to take away - not remembering your excuses.S

OP you have a better than evens chance of getting to interview stage based on this. You have actually done very well, and your touch of humility of appealing. Go for it - I really do think you will get to interview (and when you get there remember Skeebo's very good point about your average A level results).

Skeebo & Mars, thank you both. I appreciate your comments. Agree 100% with the sob story avoidance strategy, as it can so easily sound like cheap excuses. However, if asked, I guess all I can do is be truthful.Having done my undergrad somewhere so far off the radar of MC firms has always been a bit of a complex. It has been mentioned to me -although mainly by supportive friends- that having gone on to do what I have from a lowly beginning can almost be a positive, as it shows real determination and genuine capability. Would be nice if ATK agreed, at least enough to let me get my ass in the hot seat and show them what I'm made of... Let's see!

I'm sorry, but having re-read my first post, I realise my use of the term "2nd-tier" to describe my school was inappropriate, as what constitutes a "tier" is open to interpretation. Think outside Top 50 - not good at all.But my Master's Degree (& Business School) is definitely top of the pops.
