Hoping someone might be able to help.Just looking at Cap and their levels seems to be quite different than say somewhere like ACN - difficult to compare. What is the usual career progression (timewise) and 'normalised' level equivalent for comparison to other consultancies? (put something down for starters but no idea if its right)Associate Consultant(C1) - AnalystConsultant(C2) - ConsultantSenior Consultant(C3) - C3/M1 Managing Consultant(C4) - M2-M3/SM1Executive Consultant(C5) - SM2/3/Junior PartnerDirector/Partner - PartnerWhat level should one aim for with 7/8yrs experience? Also, anyone have an idea of a pay range for the levels? Are they competitive, not competitive, do they negotiate at all?cheersjobhunter

Now, you funny little man. We need you to answer some further questions. Firstly, WTF is "Cap"? Are we talking "Cap Gem" or "Cap Co"? This will be our starting point, stripping out your jargon.

Dave, calm down and read the subject - it says "CapGemini levels / career progression /"What part of that don't you understand? No need for jobhunter to answer your questions, the answers are already there

7/8 years boundary of SC / MC - they would probably position as top end SC. they underpay slightly gainst the market and attempt to sell this by referring to a collaborative style, more relaxed environment etc - which simply isn't true, no better or worse than any other big bodyshop. ACN way better brand and find it way easier to get work - which is critical to your success as if you find yourself on the bench at CG your career there will be shortlived..

@jobhunter I think you got those level comparisons about right. With about 7/8 years experience you'd be looking at the C4 level

Thanks for the replies - that was quick.@Dave it is CapGemini (hadn't even heard of Capco until I came across them on this forum)@others For the Cap levels, I thought those were kind of right but I am sure they'll play the usual cards.Anyone know what their stance is on negotiating level/compensation .. . are they open or is it that we do not negotiate cos they are a big company?Ideas on indicative pay for the top levels?

no idea about cap but if your leveling is correct they should be comparable with ACN base pay levels:M2-M3 anywhere from 75k - 90k base depending on a number of factors.SM1 at accenture is roughly 90k base upwards.Lowest "partner" level (4 point something) at accenture starts at about 120k. Further up and base salary becomes much less relevant, as the incentives relate to engagement delivery targets and your slice of the sales pie.

VP is the partner equivalent grade; the CG Principal (formerly Executive Consultant) grade covers Senior Manager and Director

Depends on the area. I would have said VP equates to Director / Partner. While Principal / EC equates to Senior Mgr. CG's pay and bonus rates are very low - no pay rises for the past two years

that's fair actually. the bottom end internal-promote VPs are poorly comp'd, though their targets are in line with partner targets at EY... The P/EC grade, much like Director, can also be either something you go through on the way to VP, or somewhere you get parked for ever. This year was particularly tough, with one top end EC I know having achieved a multiple of typical VP sales and delivery target but not getting promoted...
