Hello, everyone! My name is Egbertas and I am a young professional who is looking forward to start a career (or rather "Rock the World") in Business Development. I would mainly like to inquire all of you for your advice or opinion, but before a little bit about me as I just signed here:).After finishing school in my home country I decided to head for UK to start doing things in life that I always wanted. After 3 years living in London I finally decided that it is time for me to live my dream - bring contribution to society, use my creativity to people's advantage and pursue a career that suits me most < Management Consulting >. On the other hand, I can not boast having finished a fancy university or had any experience in this field, but I want to begin from basics, and therefore this is why I am here.I have tried to apply for some companies' school-leavers programs, but unfortunately due to my past mistakes in grades I was declined. ->My question is: how would you suggest me to start? Would you have any great suggestions on book library?, or rather seminars? By the way, at the end of your message please text how did you start your career in consulting and what challenges did you faced?Looking forward to your repliesRegards :)

Egbertas - to put it bluntly you will not get into mgmt consulting at this stage if you have a poor academic record. If getting into consulting some years down the road is something you would still like to pursue, I would suggest getting into the graduate program of whatever industry player you can. Tesco, BBC, whatever, these are all good career moves in their own right (and also not that easy to get into, esp since it has been 3 years since you graduated). After you have 3-4 years experience you can look into lateralling / getting an MBA.
