Hi;I am currently working for one of the Big 4 firms in the Human Capital practice in India. Prior to this I have had close to 3 years of experience in Change Management in financial institutions like HSBC and erstwhile ABN AMRO.I want to move into a London based HR Consulting firm or the Organization practice of a strategy firm. Was looking for some pointers on the way forward. Blindly applying on the sites is getting me thank you for applying mails.Any help would be appreciated.Regards,GS

you are trying to get a job in another country. You will have little or no chance via their websites- the front door strategy works only in 1999 type bull run markets. You have only 2 viable options:1. Apply for a lateral transfer in your current company. They surely have UK offices and make your intentions known to them that you want to be in the UK ( to HR).2. Contacts, contacts and more contacts. You need someone in the UK to bring you in. Both situations are tough. Expect this to take years. By the way, its pretty much the same in anyother OECD/EU country as well.

A tried and tested strategy is to get onshore on a large deployment project and prove yourself useful. Get an extension, and build a local network of friends and contacts who can sniff out positions at either your Big4 or the client you're deployed to. This makes the jump as painless as possible. The quirks of the immigration system here mean that you need to do your homework to present a compelling case to bring you over as a "Tier 1" or whatever they're calling it now.

i agree with above two posts. I would add further by saying that apply within India for other companies like HSBC, you have worked there before, so i guess should be easy to rejoin them. I know for sure that they are working on org change and i have recently seen some Indian Jhonies doing rounds of HSBC uk office... they are here on 1 year or so assignments. You may want to have UK assignment/ relocation as a pre-condition for joining them. But you may find the process tough. Brce urself up for some pretty rough ride mate

You might want to review your visa options ...as Tier 1 erstwhile HSMP is no longer there, check the UK BA website. The only option for u is to get a company hire in the UK on tier 2 general category visa ...as Tier 2 ICT from India or where ever u will still be an employee of ur home country and not the UK based firm.
