What do MBB consultants with FS strat/ops experience go on to do in banks (assume good operational understanding, but not in depth product knowledge and no accounting qualifications)?Thanks.

OK - I know this is a forum where you can get help and in a sense there is no such thing as a silly question, but on the assumption that you are yourself an MBB consultant with an FS background, I find this staggering!Soooo.... MBB consultants that work on FS projects do not know the basics of what an investment bank does, how to split it into business units, what those BU activities are, what the staff structure is, and the day to day activity, and cannot then make a basic comparison of those activities to their own skills.Elvis on a bike! you could get that from typing Investment Bank into wikipedia! Alternatively you would think you might pick it up on one or more of your assignments?The next time someone mentions the intellectual brilliance, analytical rigour and general superiority of MBB consultants, I'm going to point them to this thread!

real life example I know - left MBB at a senior but not partner level. now an MD in the group technology division of a bulge bracket IB, developing and then implementing a consistent global delivery management approach.

Wowser has a point OP.I would suggest enrolling on CFA Level 1 (do this while still at MBB) - you will struggle with the workload on top of what you already have to do, but you will need to get at least more than a rudimentary grasp of the products across several asset classes.

I am in a similar situation. Currently work for MBBB, but would like to break into asset mgmt or sell-side research. How much value would CFA level 1 and maybe 2 add?
