Hi There i was wondering if anyone might have some advice. i have come from in house client side consulting and have been offered a role at deloitte however the salary is very low and for the change in lifestyle (ie hours and workload) i would have expected at least 5k higher. I have heard the bonuses are not eligible for new starters and having read the below threads the salary i have been offered for a senior consulting is at least 10k lower than the ones quoted. having said that, is a drop in salary worth the opportunity to work for the big4, are the hours as hard as everyone makes out??

Congratulations on the offer - that is good news, however, if you think you are being screwed on the offer you probably are. The main thing to think about here is that your industry experience is not being taken into account in the same way as if you had already come from a big 4 background, which might explain higher offers to other candidates. Negotiate!

Thankyou for your input so far. I have tried to negiotiate however they have remained quite clear that is the offer, which adds to my hesistance whether this is the right move for me. I understand the hours and hard work involved, I just hoped that for the effort put in I would have received the correct incentive and now that incentive is not there, is all that hard work ahead worth it or should i hold out given the market is quite good or even opt for a 9-5 which will offer the same rewards?

I'd go for a 9-5 job!If these large companies want to crush your balls and expect the world from you, then they've gotta pay you properly! And if they're not willing to do that, then... well... get a 9-5 job which has shorter hours, less stress, no travel and the same pay. Simples!

Thanks for the feedback, this is a great medium and appreciate the advice..My head says go with it, the hard work will pay off and currently thats the first offer I have, how long will it be until another great offer comes along, but my heart says ive been undervalued and maybe client side is where i should stay, as mentioned no travel, better hours, and same if not more pay, just have to wait for that opportnity i guessthanks again all

you could always accept and continue looking and then quit if its not what you hoped for to tie you over?
