i am currently aligned to testing group in Accenture and have been offered a similar job at IBM (testing group)...salary is pretty much about the same...48k...should i make the move? any adivce?

Why did you go looking for a job in the first place? And why did you apply to IBM?Because this didn't happen: you were just sitting on the bus one day and you picked up a paper and a little advert says, "if anyone knows Tommys, tell him we'll give him a job doing what he's doing now for the same money for no good reason, even though he's not looking'No you either got a call from an agency and you said, yeah, put me forward, then went to at least two interviews blah blah blah or you actually took the time to apply. Either way you made a significant emotional commitment.So you already know the answer to your question, you just want someone here to validate what you know.So what do you know?

I guess this one boils down to work-life balance and exit options. Do you like it at ACN? Would you prefer it at IBM? Is your ACN job secure? Would the IBM job be secure? What's the commute like?

Moving too often is a minus on the CV so most would want to secure a reasonable increase in salary, or an increase in role. You haven't told us anything beyond the roles / salary being comparable, so it implies you want out of ACN for non-salary reasons. Either you've had a bad performance year (note I am not judging), bad work/life balance or bad manager. I don't think anyone can comment on your specific experience to say if it's a good or a bad move. Personally I would think Accenture has the edge in "brand value" but IBM could be a better fit culturally and have more UK testing roles in more industries.

Yep, that happens.But the question is, why did you do that? And when the recruiter called you, why did you go ahead with the process?You are either unhappy, bored or speculating so if your:Unhappy: Ask yourself why. Is it your boss? Your work? Your career path? Your salary? There's little point moving unless there is a significant shift in where you to where your going to beBored: Don't take it, just more of the same.Speculating: Don't take it, you're not gaining enough. (similar money, similar role)It's easy to get the job you already have and a cheap shot by the recruiter. It's a lot tougher to find the role that stretches and challanges you.You never went looking for this one Tommys, you've had your head turned. But this is worth bearning in mind; with a recruiter trying to sell you a role and with the employer on their best behaviour, doing their best to recruit you, you still are unsure. They still havent convinced you.Cos if they had, you wouldnt be here, having this discussion.If I were you, I'd leverage the offer to your own benefit where you are.
