if I get an offer from accenture in consulting - would you suggest its a good move and would help my career progression. Also the future prospects of moving over to some other job after a while?

Sorry to be direct on this but your question is stupid because it is impossible to answer. The readers on this board have no idea what your career background is, or what your career aspirations are. How can they possibly tell you if some undescribed role (which you don't specify) at a firm with 200k employees is going to help your career progression. Why are all the questions about Accenture always asked by the dumbest people?

Accidenture

Bob must be ex accidenture idiot (or just a useless idiot) based on his wonderful and friendly answer.I worked for accidenture and hated the experience (lot of idiots like Bob around). I was reasonably successful and got promoted but was just waiting for the opportunity to leave. So it can look good on your CV and it can bode well for your future career in consulting since you'll get used to consulting culture etc. but not necessarily in any other work if you for example plan to go back to industry. My advice: if you want to move into consulting and need money and most importantly have no other option, then go and stay (and suffer) in accidenture for 2-3 years and move on, otherwise stay away altogether.

I agree with accidenture, I suffered a burn out and had to be hospitalised, developed diabetes....too much pressure and treat people like nachines....full of suckers who talk big but cannot deliver...go to Delloitte or a niche player....
