Hi everyone, I recently applied for E&Y graduate entry position and got an email after two days saying that they are very much interested in my profile but I need to submit additionally my high school (A-levels) results. I sent them an email with those results and this was a week ago. I haven't heard anything since then. Should I give them a call or something? Thank you for your advice.

Which country are you applying to? Are they not using the online application system? Yes, give them a call and make sure they received the information.

I am applying in the UK. I applied online, and then submitted A levels results via e-mail as requested. However, haven't heard from them since.

What were your grades? If it was EEE, then that might have a part to play in the lack of response.

I didn't actually do A levels as such. I am an EU student. I submitted the equivalent of A levels, which they said would be fine, and I had excellent grades throughout.

Thank you everyone.I would give them a call but maybe they normally take this long to proceed to the next stage, or decide to reject the application. Their web site states that after each stage they tend to provide feedback within 72 hours. In my case it has been a week now. I think I will give them a call but maybe wait for few more days, maybe they are very busy. I guess you all think I should call them :) :)

I'm surprised you are still waiting frankly. Do not wait another few days, call them today. Right now. This is your possible future/career, don't adopt a wait and see attitude.

I wouldn't mind waiting as it normally takes much longer then a week for consultancies to get back to you, but E&Y's web page states that they provide a feedback within 72 hours. I guess I could/should call them tomorrow.

I would definitely call them. It could be that the task to "convert" your qualifications has gone to the bottom of the pile and they're really busy. Or it could be that they've forgotten to "hit the button" to move you on to the next stage after they received your qualifications. It happens more often than you'd think.

Hey guys, I called them this morning and yes, you were right, it was "lost" in the process due to grades conversation. Anyhow, they said I should be receiving an e-mail very soon, online assessment test or something like that. Does anyone know what this is? Maths perhaps? Difficult? I am applying for graduate consulting entry position. Thank you for your help everyone.

I'd also like to learn more about this online test! I've heard its maths and sort of difficult. Can anyone share more information? Thank you.

It's pretty standard fare. You can practise a couple of tests on the SHL and Kenexa websites. The "pass mark" isn't difficult to reach.

Hi guys, So after almost a month after submitting my application online, I received an email yesterday saying that graduate program I applied for is now closed and I am invited to have a look at some other programs available to which my application could be directed to. So unfair. I submitted it almost a month ago and didn't hear from them until two weeks later when they asked me to submit equivalents of A-levels and after I did submit it, I still didn't hear from for another ten days. I am thinking about complaining but not to this HR person that I've been exchanging emails with. I want to take it to a higher level since I think its this guy's fault anyway. He has been unresponsive and not very efficient. It was his duty to contact me sooner since their web site states that they provide feedback and requests for further information within 72 hours, not ten days. What do you guys think? Thanks

Garny,Don't waste your time trying to do anything about it because it probably won't change the outcome in any way. Get over it and move on. Invest the time saved in applications elsewhere.E&Y did this to me about a decade ago, so it's nothing new.Best of luck.EC

But I really like their graduate program and none of this is really my fault. I submitted my application a month ago. I can't just walk over it. I hate to be treated unfairly.

Normatively, I agree that it sucks. I agree that it shouldn't happen; however life is unfair and you're going to be treated unfairly sometimes. Deal with it in whatever way you can and move on. Direct your energies to ensuring that there's a positive outcome for you and E&Y recruiting can get knotted.EC

Yes you were let down by E&Y process however in a very competative graduate market you need to be proactive through every step in the recruitment process. Don't be hesitant in calling several times every day if necessary until you get an adequate response. No future employer will see this as a negative only a positive as it shows you are passionate about their organisation.

Thanks guys, but I am wondering what does some HR coordinator care about me and how passionate I am about their organization? Should I get a name of a higher ranked person in their HR and send an e-mail to them instead exchange endless emails with careless HR coordinator? I already wrote to him and he explained that they had overwhelming number of applicants and they had to redirect around 100 of them to other programs as the one I applied is now full. He advised I look at some other vacancies to which my application could be redirected. This I find so rude. They can't accept applications and lead one to believe there is a chance to get in and then inform you the program is actually full. But he is HR coordinator, one in hundreds, and probably couldn't care less.

Well it's an idea, but the people you will be speaking to - numpties in HR - are not really "your employer" and are just as likely to be irritated by your attentions when they have several thousand applications to deal with. I would say keep your contact to a reasonable level (which is not several times a day...)HR oftens seems to be the weakest link in such firms. My own experience of Big 4 recruitment has not been positive (didn't hear back in 2 cases) even though I work for one of the others and would have thought I was suitable enough to at least merit the courtesy of a reply, but apparently not.I woukdn't take it personally (if you are); I appreciate it is frustrating but such is the incompetence of a large bureaucracy.
