1. BS in Computer Science from state school. 2. 20k in student loan debt. 0 credit card debt. 13k car loan (paid down from 25, late model sports car) 3. Currently making 80k a year in the technology consulting industry (top 4 tech consulting firm). 4. Works 13 hours a day monday - thursday, 4 hours on friday, 0 hours on weekend. 5. Only home on the weekend, job obligations require me to fly every week, living out of a suitcase. 6. Rents a nice loft in mid-town & drives a late model foreign sports/luxury car 7. Debt to income ratio approximately 75%. 8. Me: average looking, 5-15 pounds over weight, short. 24 Y/O. Full head of hair. Gets bored easily & physically insecure.9. Long term gf (great shape, out of my league but not ambitious as me) 10. No connections to the wealthy, came from a low income family. I will probably have to support my mom once she retires.11. Passed on law school (lsat was < 160), might get an MBA from top 10 if employer reviews are good enough, other wise i'm done with school.12. friends, family and gf think i'm rich which has forced me into a life style that i consider excessive.13. Potential earning power of 100k w/in 3 years to 1 mil+ w/in 15 years if i make partner , although the partner line at my firm is long and growing and the people I work with are hyper competitive.

what's the underlying concern - the somewhat implied feeling of holding the lifestyle-financing tiger by the tail, or 'there must be more to life than material things' ?

During the week: A fast car you can't drive, a girl you don't see and a life you don't have.Use that massive potential to get a job closer to home.

Is it not rather more important how you rate it? I would give it a D, but your values and priorities may be different.

This has to be a wind-up. However, you are clearly American so I may give you the benefit of the doubt on this one. My friend, your BIG problem is that you are obsessed with the way the world views you. Because the people around you tell you that you are rich, you feel you have to act like you are. As a result you always feel strapped for cash and want this forum to tell you how well you are doing and that it will all be alright in the end.

Dear 20s-c,Impossible to rate your life as you haven't mentioned whether you're happy or not!As someone hinted at above, you're very concerned with the externatilities, in fact you're rather utilitarian when 'analysing' your girlfriend.I think I'm right in saying that the rags to riches tragectory you've been on has stalled a bit, but you were probably getting a bit disillusioned with it anyway?I think your priorities are a bit mixed up, but only know in which order they should be, so don't allow people - especially a bunch of anons on forums - to say you must aim for a bigger car, bigger pay package!

80k salary isn't that impressive at all - actually none of the things you listed there is.If you are 5-10 lbs overweight in American standard (I am 99.9999% sure you are American), than you must be super-obese.... Keep pretending to be rich to your gf, that's probably the only reason she's going out with an obese, self-centred DH!

the fact you're on a consulting forum asking anonymous people to rate your life based on meaningless metrics such as salary, hours worked, amount overweight should tell you that you've lost your way and need to reassess what's important to you. Life should be fun, not something measured like that - you need to make change.
