does anyone know anything about a HH called Heidrick & Struggles? (apart from the stuff on their website of course?) Are they any good? Any thoughts on them?

yes, they are long established and one of the big players - they pick up a lot of C-level remits

OP - they are one of the half dozen or so headhunting firms that you'd place in the category of elite search organisations, so the recruiting equivalent of McKinsey, Bain, etc.You will hardly ever see them advertising anywhere as by definition they are a search firm and so identify the individuals they want to approach to fill a role rather than relying on advertising response. So don't let their lack of presence in the media put you off.We don't have much contact with them at all, so can't give you any insights into how well they are doing at present or what their coverage is currently like in the consulting market. But if you're in discussions with them then they are certainly one of the top search firm brands in my view...Tony RestellTop-Consultant.com

As Tony says, one of the top players, along Odgers etc..If you're talking to Heidrick, the role is real because they are RETAINED. As well, they research and understand their remit so work to imnpress them, they are more than your catalyst.

I met a few of their people about a job (with them) some years ago. All incredibly impressive - absolute top-drawer place.

Agree with all of the above. Have interviewed with them in the past and they are everything that you would hope all HH's would be.Nice offices, quality coffee and a grilling from people who know as much about you and your industry as you do.

Right-oh you little turds! How do I get onto Heidrick & Struggles' radar? I wanna get headhunted, or at least I want them to know about me. Many thanks. Have a nice weekend folks.

I maintain a very low profile. I expect they only manage to "find" directors of large companies or partners in mainstream consultancies.

How do you know, buttface? :-) On their website it says "we help companies attract, develop and retain the world’s most talented individuals", not "we go after only the easiest, most prominent and obvious targets".Also, they seem to keep referring to the word "Search" a lot, which implies they do something a little more, well, searching than just looking up the latest CEO names in the FT and going after them.

Search makes extensive use of referrals - i.e. find someone good in the right field, but who doesn't want the job/too senior/only just moved jobs then ask them who they'd recommend. So you only need to be high-profile among the right people.
