Agents tell me I should be applying for roles around £75K basic similar to my last salary. I have been doing this but not been getting many interviews since being made redundant last year. Had some interim work and a lot of bench time.Offered an interview for a role at £60K. I am a workaholic and going crazy sitting at home so really want the job even though it is below my previous salary.How do I answer the "what salary are you looking for?"

I see the role is offering £xxk and I am comfortable with that, but I am ambitious and would like to understand the career development strategy etc etc..."You can hang out for the £70k but net net, if your on the bench for three months you might as well have taken the 60k, been drawing an income, building your value, looking for alternatives.If you are as good as you think you are (and your story seems pretty robust to me) then an employer worth their salt will see that and reward that fairly quickly.
