Hunter

Hi Mr. Cool,I have a recent 2 months GAP on my CV due to finishing my contract in OCT and Starting a permnanent position in JAN. How best should I display this on my CV? I received the offer for permanent position in NOV itself however, the start date offered was JAN 2011.Can I show like this:NOV 2010-Present: Programme ManagerAnd in the job description I add this on ths top: Received the offer in Nov 2010 however, actually started in Jan 2011 due to pre-booked holidays? The other option is:NOV2010- DEC-2010- Awaiting to start with ABC Company from 4th Jan 2011Jan 2011- Present- Programme Manager- ABC CompanyWhich one do u think would be more appealing? is there any 3rd option apart from skip mentioning anything about NOV-DEC 2010?

Hunter the 2 month period would usually be swallowed up by a standard notice period anyway, so it wont look unusual if you leave the gap without explanation on your CV. Space is a precious commodity on your CV and you shouldn't clutter it without good reason. Every word should earn its place.I would be more concerned that you are asking this Q already when you started a new perm role in January.

Just put the actual dates:jan 2011- abc conov 2010-nov 2011 interim roleNoone cares about a 2 month gap. And if they ask at interview you can just say you took a month off.On my CV I don't even put the months just the years.

He's asking because its the same joker that has already been on here asking for advice after he resigned from a BIG4 firm in a huff when they asked him to do some work he considered beneath him.If I'm right, it doesn't matter what you put on your CV.

Joker,Whilst your observation are spot on but no calling me a jocker won't help you getting any credibility!!No, you are wrong..putting anything on CV does matter and matter hell a lot if you want to grow from the level you are currently working which I reckon is far below my level!!You say I left BIG4 in a huff...crazy...did I tell u that I was bombarded with contract offers in the same month I finished with that damn BIG4....Did I tell I am working on £550 a day since then which means getting 50% more than what I was getting at that BIG4 and enjoying my assignment to the fullest and it's already been 1.5 months in this role!!You crazy m*ron!

and to put you on rest, out of the 3 contract offers I received almost at the same time...not even one of them asked why did I left that BIG 4 in merely 2 months (including 1 month notice)!! They were not even interested to know what I did in those 2 months!! there were plenty of other interested thing on my CV which they preffered to talk about rather talking about that damn, disgusting BIG4!! So my rate has now increased from £475 to £550!! I don't have river views now but have a pleasent working enviornment and marvellous surroundings!!

OP – please whatever you do, keep posting on this forum – you brighten up my day.Tell us more about your current role. Is it a Programme Manager role? You suggest so in your original post. I’m confused. 550 a day sounds like a real rip off for a programme manager role. I charge 750 and upwards when in a role of that nature. I only ever charge 550 when I’m working on a junior PM or PMO role, usually when I’ve got a busy social schedule and I need a job that I can do 9 to 5 with a series of hangovers.I’m glad you’ve managed 1.5 months there. I was worried that you were going to get a reputation for being flighty, but I can see that you’ve now settled down. You must find it annoying to have all those silly permanent staff as your bosses and stakeholders

OP - ! Only three offers! Ony five hundred snicker per day!I was only at my last job for an hour and disliked my boss so much that got him fired. I then quit directly to the Chairman. As I walked out the door two agents had a fistfight in the street over my services and I had six (that's 6!) contract offers within the hour.I took the one that pays a cool grand a day and I DO have a view of the Thames (office is in Tower Bridge - not the area - BRIDGE!)

Mr Cool once mentioned on some of the post:"The vast majority of PM/Pr Mgrs will be on between 500 and 750. "So I am happy with my rate of £550!! Damn it unlike Mr. Cool who is 42 I am merely 34 so pretty much happy having 2 of the BIG4 consulting companies and 2 of the BIG4 banks on my CV!!

You do make me laugh! You're proud of having two of the big four on your CV? Even though you resigned from one of them after a few weeks and threatened to sue them for asking you to do some work you regarded as beneath you!Yeah - Like I had a girlfriend who turned out to be a nutter and tried to cut my nads off with a soup spoon, but I'm really proud to have been out with her cos she was really gorgeous.LOL
