I have an offer of a role in line management (not consulting) with a large team, ownership of multiple functions and which cuts across borders. The role is bigger than anything I have done before with potential to take on an even bigger role in 2 years.I have a second interview for another role which is single function, no people responsibilities, UK only. The role is smaller than I have done historically. Both pay the same (the bigger role is in a smaller business and has been under valued). How many of you would take the bigger role versus the easier life? Why?

Depends what you want out of life.No.1 for the challenge and a good experience to build on for your career in the long term and something solid on your CV with many things to expand your skill set. Are you (possibly) conservative in outlook, looking for guaranteed career progression and prepared to work hard for it - choose this option.No.2 for the short term easy life but who knows what might happen in 2 years time - could be no further opportunity but equally it could be that something bigger and better comes along for even more money and an even easier ride - are you a naturally spawny git - then roll the dice and choose this option! Also depends on your age - if you are in your 20's go for the easy life, have fun and spend your money frivolously on wine, women and song with plenty of time to build a career later. In your 30's onwards - go for the hard working solid career choice.Just my opinion - not career advice. Your outlook on life may be completely different to mine.
