Hello - I have a question for the experts. Could you please explain the Consultant and onward job grades and titles at Accenture? As I understand it -Grade Job TitleC2 ConsultantC3 Senior ConsultantM1 ManagerM2 ?M3 ?M4 ?I seem to think M2 grade is also Manager, while M3 and M4 grades have Senior Manager job title; after which the Senior Executive stint would commence. Is this right?Secondly, could you please indicate the approx. salary ranges for the grades?Regards.

A1, A2 etc.. - AnalystC1, C2, C3 etc... - ConsultantM1, M2, M3 etc... - ManagerSM1, SM2, SM3 etc.. - Senior ManagerThe letter refers to the grade and the number refers to the number of years at level. Years at level progression (i.e. A1 -> A2 etc...) is automatic and not a promotion. Progression from one grade to another is via the promotions process. There is no Senior Consultant grade per se but many people put it on their CVs and internally it would be understood as a consultant with more than a couple of years in grade.

You stop at a certain point, but the number of people stuck at these top points is one of the reasons they're thinking of getting rid of the numbers in the grading scheme (so I hear). Doesn't really match the meritocratic guff we keep spouting either.

No, you are not correctAnalyst levels are: A1, A2.Consultant levels: C1, C2, C3.Manager levels: M1, M2, M3SM levels: M4, M5, M6, M7, M7+If for example you are a C3 and dont get promoted to M1, you remain a C3. Same for M3s who dont get promoted to SM.

agreed, Snr Mgrs are never referred to as SM1 etc.you do get A3's these days and you do hear people being referred to in perf mgmt as c4, c5 etc, but point re M3 is correct.I'm not sure any differentiation is needed at SM over and above those eligible to be considered for SE/put on the long list and those not. There are plenty of M9, M10, M11 these days, but who wants to refer to themselves by a title that indicates clearly that they didn't make SE so far.

there are 12 partner levels, with Bill Green at the top (till Christmas) being a level 1.0. career model is closer to Services (positional rather than performance based) and comp depends on too many factors to reliably baseline.

We operate an up or out policy. Bus demand aside, if you do not make promotion in three perf periods, you are 'encouraged' to look at your options. It's worth noting, this is primarily applicable to UK/I. Other geographies have their own ways of doing things. It also only applies to consulting.SM is 3 years also but is not ranked numerically like the levels below. Either you cut it in that time or your out.

Rubbish - I know plenty of SMs (and As,Cs,Ms) who've been at their level for more than three years. Far from being pushed out, they're part of the furniture. ACN does not practice "up or out" either by policy or in reality, although there are plenty of people who get pushed out for other (mainly political) reasons.

As I have already said - Business Demand aside! We are not going to ship people out when we can't fill roles........

Well, that's complete rubbish too. Your point is that when there is a requirement for staff ("business demand") you don't get rid of them. Only when you don't need staff (reduced demand) do you get rid of them. Wow, what a management innovation. It even holds true to the point where you look at the entire history of ACN downsizing cycles where there is no pattern of FIFO, let alone "up or out after 3 years". If anything those who have joined more recently and haven't yet demonstrated their worth or hooked into the network have been made the least welcome.
