"Top" 50 on what basis - what criteria do you want respondents to apply? For example, firms where you'd most like to work, firms you've heard of, firms you'd hire if you were a client, firms with widest reach, firms with broadest range of services, firms with deepest expertise, firms with the best-looking staff? What if you don't think there are 50 worthy of "top" designation, or if there are firms of equal "topness" value according to different criteria? Is this survey methodology representative of the type of "rigour" you peddle to users of the case study site? Not a great advert!

Everyone has their own top 50. Why do we have to vote? to see what other people think?

It looks like all the content on that site has been stolen from other sites. Wonder how long it'll last.

Yeah, ha ha. My favourite bit is the line that reads "I’ve based the schedule below on a medium-intensity day".Can you imagine what a BUSY day would be like?I can just see it now:4.00am, wake up and check my blackberry. Respond to a few overnight e-mails and tap out a few case studies.4.30am - Grab a capaccino on the way into the office. Thinking about professionalism and the need to add true value as I step into the lift and rummage for my security pass.5.00am - Write a few reports and then head to the gym for an intense workout.5.45am - Back to the office. The Partner will be arriving in a few hours so I make sure I get ahead with my analysis and produce a couple of excel spreadsheets full of data, with an executive summary in powerpoint.6.30am - Respond to a few e-mails and prepare a client strategy for the new millennium for a global household brand name company. They'll like my ideas, it will transform the industry.7.25am - Grab another coffee whilst reading the New York Times and The Economist.7.40am - Mentor some junior team members and show them how to be a true consultant.8.00am - Now the work really starts. Take a couple of calls from Bill Gates and a few other CEOs and listen to their thoughts and concerns about the industry. I share my thought leadership with them with which they are suitably impressed.8.45am - etc etc etc (until 3am in the morning, then repeat).

Oh man, unreal. Just unreal.Sounds like she has a GREAT sense of humour. "consume caffeinated beverage" indeed. Either she's a robot or moonlights as a part-time stand up comedian. The worst part is that many naive grads will be looking up to somebody like this as a role model, and she then pollutes their minds with this drivel.Reading that post sent a chill down my spine and reminded me of my first few days on the world's most boring project for a very, VERY boring and demanding job manager. Why is it that people in this "profession" feel the need to exaggerate like this? Can't they just be content to do a good day's work, rather than writing rubbish which is obviously either untrue or, if it is, indicates that the writer has some sort of serious personality disorder and is the consulting equivalent of somebody that swallowed the "s3x in the city" pill or maybe would be an ideal contender for "The Apprentice" except the other contestants wouldn't be able to handle the intensity of it all.

Completely agree - I mean, for sure there are days like this. But if I'm in the office by 7:30 having a caffinated beverage, it would be very difficult to briefly socialize, as no b*gger else would be there! And for sure - when I do wake up at 6am (which is rare) I may read e-mails on my phone, but for sure I'm not sitting down to reply and downloading materials before jumping into the shower. I wonder if the pharmaceutical industry is so high-pressure that there are urgent e-mails received between 11pm and 6am which have to be replied to... Oh well, I guess her caffinated beverage will keep her awake...But you're right - you can even see the grads on the comments "what about your weekends? Are they free?"I would put money on her replying "My weekends allow me a chance to relax. I have a lie-in until 7am, then spend the morning relaxing with a caffinated beverage and replying to high-priority e-mails which came on Friday night..."

What you have to note is that despite claiming to be a "Senior Consultant", the individual had less than a year's work experience when writing that "day in the life". So more like an Analyst, and I call bullshit on the whole schedule.

My Fridays working in a global consultancy5AM - Sleeping9AM - Alarm goes off. Alarm is stopped.9.05AM Position based negotiation occurs between left side of brain and right hand side of brain to get up. Result is that self will fire up laptop from bed.9.10AM Update team status to 'WFB'. Working from Bed.9.30AM Read BBC News. 10.00AM Respond to email11.00AM Work comes in12PM Work through lunch responding to change requests/impact assessments.1PM Have lunch with 24 Season 8.3PM Work a bit more4PM Finish work and go out.The OP really should state that there are easy and hard weeks in consulting... and getting up at 5AM everyday is not true. At the moment I work out of a 4 star hotel Mon-Thu and I wake up at 8 to get to client at 9. Taxi drives me to work and I relax reading BBC news on my phone. If i had to get up at 5AM everyday I would change company. 5AM get ups are strictly for once in a blue moon and early flights. You can impress people without 4 hours preparation every morning.
