#0 Strategy Analyst at a smaller firm?

Hi,Having worked at a strategy consultancy for the last 2 years (joined them straight out of uni), I am keen to make a move into an in-house strategy team.I've been lucky enough to get an offer to become a Strategy Analyst at a small, but fast growing media company (annual revenues c.£100m).Best thing about the role is the level of responsibility, I would report directly to the CEO, and would be responsibile for leading a lot of interesting projects. My only concerns are that I'd be the only member of the strategy "team" (no fellow Managers/Analysts), and the fact that it is a smaller firm (hence future recruiters may not find it as recognisable as BBC/BSkyB etc) Would such a job reduce my chances to eventually working in a strategy role at a larger corporation, or rule out a return to a consulting firm in the future?Would appreciate your thoughts, thanks very much Peter

Media is notoriously competitive to gain entry to. You will be fine as long as you take the role with your eyes open a realistic idea of what you want to achieve - having a good strat house on your CV prior to this role will ensure you don't get derailed, but you will need to be clear on your objectives. If the role is not going anywhere within 1 year then look to either use that experience to move up to a major player or return to consultancy. But of course you could be joining the next big thing!

From what you have said, it sounds like a promising opportunity to get a much greater level of responsibility that you would at a larger in-house team. You could stay there 1-2 years before moving onto a Strategy Manager position at a larger firm - or indeed stay on at this smaller more entrepreneurial firm if it really does take off!And with c.£100m revenues, it sounds like its a sizeable firm already
