Ok my background:Education: A-Levels; AABcBA Industrial Economics (2:1) - University of NottinghamWork Experience:Big 4 Consulting InternshipAccentureLocal Accounting FirmAny chance of getting into MBBB? Give it to me straight, should I look to join the likes of the Big 4/Accenture, etc then pursue a MBA at a top business school or should I take a shot at MBBB?

Take a shot for sure, but don't expect too much. Nottingham isn't really a top target uni for MBB. You will be facing tough competition from Oxbridge and LSE. Good luck.

If you get an MBA from a top school, then you should have a reasonable shot at MBBB (or, at least as reasonable as anyone else.) Once you get to interview they no longer care about your academic background. With your current position it is possible, but much less likely. The "local" accounting firm, in particular, is slightly odd and could raise red flags.EC

simply - no. Academics not good enough (1st class needed) and by the sounds of it exp not good enough ('local accounting firm'). You're an accountant trying to get into corporate strategy? Sorry, but no. MBB is not the top 10% or 5%, it's the top 1%. Best (and by that I mean very remote) chance would be to get into another firm (e.g ATK), get a top MBA (LBS, INSEAD, not Oxford, Warwick etc) then you may have a chance. Good luck.

I'm an ex MBBB recruiter and sorry to say, but no. The MBA from a good school advice is pretty sound but still I think you might be better going for big4.I am now outside of big4 (only just, though) and we'd look at you. Make sure you brand that 'Local Account' bit carefully, to me it sounds like you either did a stint at a rellys practice over the summer holidays or its where you belong.

The local accounting firm experience was just before I entered University and if I'm honest, isn't really worth mentioning. It was before I had my mind set on consulting.

Why do you want to join MBBB out of interest? Most grads have little real insight into what MBBB or other consulting firms really do, they are drawn to the 'glamour' (money & prestige) i suspect.
