Recently joined a small digital agency having moved away from mainstream consulting. Coming from a corporate background my previous firms used Gartner, Ovum and Datamonitor for industry insight and business development. New employers don't have access to these just yet (I am working on it) so wondering if anyone has any knowledge of any other insight tools perhaps with a free trial in the meanwhile? Unlikely I know .....

google esp google education etc don't go for the ordinary searches - also learn advanced searching techniques to cut the rubbish outAlso the contract market - create a role like telco intelligence market research director or equivalent for your industry - stick a high salary on it and interview a dozen people or more if needed and get a weeks worth of free market insight - then don't offer anyone the roleHarsh but I bet the are many of us on here that have felt in hindsight we have taken part in something like thisNow hiding under desk before Cool has a go at me saying how whiter than white HH are- but Camster I'm sure will recognise this alsoDC

DC! I can see you @rse sticking out and am taking a run up...!Actually, sounds like an entirely fair approach. How many times do clients do this to consultancy firms, plus I quite often go to interviews I don't want, just to get market info.

clients are the master of it... they want a "detailed proposal" then ask you endless questions on your "methodology"...

My favourite EVER pitch was to an investment banker who told me "we have an idea for an online business that is so fantastic that I can't tell you too much about it. I want you to bring your team back next week for a multi-supplier beauty parade and tell me how you'd build the site and the business"Easiest £2M I ever sold.
