hello, I have the PwC selection day for expericned hire coming up in the next week or so and was looking for some pointers/tips which would help me prepare for this. I have been told it would be a written excercise followed by a Group discussion and then a Partner interview.I am keen to hear from people who have been to such an event in London and could share their expericences. Also, how important is this stage of the process i.e. if someone has come this far, is it likely that he/she would get the offer or is the performance on selection event a key decider?many thanks

hello, I have just completed my selection day and wanted to make you all aware on how it went.there were around 12/15 candidates applying for various positions and we were divided into two groups of six each. Then we six were taken in a room and told that three of us will have a partner interview while other three will do the written excercise. then after about an hour and half we were to come in the same room for the group discussion. then the final part was to do the partner interview for those who did the written excercise earlier and written excerise for those who did partner interview ealier.Partner Interview: It was a competency based interview with questions like tell us a time when you were innovative/disagreed with someone or were appreciated etc etc. Examples that you give will generate more questions so be prepared and focus on the answer before thinking about the next question !Group Discussion: Six ( may be less) people each trying to convience others on a particular topic such as why is my proposal better. Additional information is given half way through so keep eyes ears open and participate. My experience says to be as relaxed yet focussed as possible. Try to listen and more importantly speak! try to question other peoples suggestion in a constructive sort of way. Be supportive but dont just agree with everything that is being said. in short be yourself and contribute towards the discussion.Written Excercise: Try to read the information given ( 10/12 pages) very quickly dont worry about the 12 pages its more like a booklet with graphs and table etc so 20-25 mins should be enough to read it.Then make a decision quickly about what you are going to recommend and then start writting. Its a good idea to make notes while reading so you can mantion it in your report. Try to structure your report i.e. intro, recommdation,conclusion etc. Throughout the day try to wear a smile it gives a positive impression of you and helps you think positively as well. Relax and Enjoy afterall it would be a job worth having if you are worth it! take care.
