Hi all,[b]Context[/b]I have been working in industry for 4 years (FMCG market analysis and National Accounts), I am progressing well but I feel frustrated by the lack of variety in my work.I am entrepreneurial in character, love problem solving and would relish the variety of project work within a consultancy. I have several friends working in top firms and they feel a move into consultancy would be right up my street.[b]Question[/b]My £50-55k current package is built on a number of elements - base salary, bonus, car allowance, profit share etc.I am aware that I may need to take some form of salary cut in the short term to move into a junior consultancy role, but have a mortgage to pay and want to get clued-up on typical forms of remuneration within the industry.Do firms tend to operate a bonus scheme or any form of performance related pay? If so what are the typical components of salary structure?Thanks in advance for taking the time to give me your thoughts.Jim

Seems that you'd come in at around a Consultant/Senior Consultant level and would therefore be in the £40-50K range for a base salary. You might get a small bonus on top but nothing to plan an extravagant holiday with.

A few years ago I was offered a Consultant position in a strategy practice for 42k + bonus (something like 10% I think). I decided to take another 55k offer I had in Industry and make up for any shortfall in problem solving challenges by asking for a sudoku book in my xmas stocking.I'm also unsure as to what you find "entrepreneurial" about consulting.
