HiAny thoughts on working for vendor's consulting arm? like Oracle consulting servicesI have heard that they are involved in niche projects and provide expert services to big 4/other partners as required in finance transformation and SI space.As a brand, how does PwC consulting compare with Oracle consulting on your CV?Thanks for sharing your views.

Are you currently at a Big 4.Comparing PWC or indeed any other Big 4 and "X Product" Consulting arm is comparing apples and oranges.Just by brand - I wouldn't say they're on the same spectrum.And I would say they provide expert services more for SIs like Capgemini, ACN etc who are into implementing their products than Big4.Very rare for a PWC or EY to be implementing a very technical Oracle solution - then call Oracle in as a partner.

Contracting now a days.Now, Big 4 does implement technical solutions. To give you an idea, E&Y's EPM division is nothing but a company called Partake consulting. Partake used to be a niche consulting firm back in days. E&Y took over the company, people and its projects.Such groups exists in all of them. (big 4) They specialize in Oracle technical solutions implementation only. They do require expert help from Oracle due to nature of projects.So, I was curious if someone works for vendor and knows how the world is on that side. Also, how is Oracle consulting as a brand?

Or question could be - Given same everything, which is better brand on your CV -PwC consulting or Oracle consulting (both doing same technical project work).

Ordinarily, you would expect Oracle consulting would be the THE BEST SUITED brand to deliver an Oracle project.The problem is that the Big 4 brand name and prestige carries across so much that the market is very quick to favour their brand.Something called the IBM Effect - "You wont get fired for choosing IBM"I wouldn't worry much about brand status or prestige in this case and just work where you think you'll be happier and enjoy more.

To make yourself stand out from the crowd, surely having Big 4 and vendor consulting on your CV will make you different/more attractive (if your skills are in need) than a standard 'move about the Big 4' CV.
