Hi,Whats the typical joining bonus one can expect when joining as a C3 Consultant at ACN? They were reluctant to give me M1, so I m negotiating for higher salary for C3. Is it impossible to get higher than £55K? Whats the max joining bonus for this level? Thanks in advance..

Hi,If you get 55k, I would say you have really negotiated well. For external hires, I dont think Acn goes any higher than 55K for the C3 level. Also, joining bonus will also be difficult to get if you are already getting a 55K package.having said that, if they really want to place you in an urgent role asap then you never know..another key point to note is, whatever you may have been promised about (like fast track promotions and people getting promoted within 6 months to 1 year etc) will not really happen. So negotiate hard while joining itself as after that it will be a whole new ball game with laddering, promotions and hikes..!

C3 is Consultant level with 3 years at the level (Consultant Level). After C3, you get promoted to Manager level 1 (M1 ) provided you do x,y and z..!Generally for people not from consulting background (big 4 etc) , when you join one of these, they take you at a much lower level, and will never offer Manager level. Expectation is for you to join at a lower level , learn the consulting world and then prove yourself to be one of them to be promoted to M1..(Frankly this is all BS and they just want to exploit you as these Consulting firms know that you are desperate to join them, so will accept anything..!)

I got the offer from KP with 5yrs of industry experience, they are doing exactly what you said to me, they said even I am managing ppl now they won't sure if I can do it in consulting field, I think I negotiated well and get the rang you mention, but should I accept only a C3 .....

Think about the money that you are getting, if you are getting a good hike and salary is as per your expectations of what you should get (irresepctive of the grade i.e. M or C) then go ahead and take C3. C3 means less expectations than an M , but you should get the salary that you deserve...Once you join, it will take a good couple of years of real hard work as well as lot of networking ( I would have used a real bad word if it was not a sophisticated career forum) before you are promoted...so consider whatever you are getting now as the salary that you will get for next 2 years...
