Please see highlights of my profileTotal years of experience --> 7 years experienceDomains --> Insurance, Airline, Trade Finance, Supply Chain, and Telecom.Clients Worked with --> Qantas Airways, Deutsche Bank, British Telecom and New India Assurance.Education --> Engineering in Electronics and InstrumentationAge --> 32From starting of my career I worked more as a Business Analyst and Team leader than a technical programmer. So I don't want to move towards technical IT consulting. Every one is suggesting it is difficult to get into a management consulting with this background even after the MBA.Now I am in a dilemma whether to try for consulting companies like BCG and Delloitte after my MBA or not1) How difficult it is for me to get into (I may not be getting into top 10 MBA programs in the world, but I am trying for top 25)2) Should I try for any other career, in which I get an opportunity to work for business development role or any strategic planning work (my passion).Thanks,Venkat

I don't think it's very likely that BCG will be interested in that background...If you get into Harvard Business School, they might change their mind though.

SVD - sorry to be cruel (to be kind, I hope), but no general mgmt consultancy, big4 or MBB firm is going to hire you with or without an MBA. You simply have no stand out skills or experience that they would value. An MBA will not change that. You will spend 30k+ on fees and lost earnings and end up back in a tech job at roughly the same salary. There are dozens of posts on this site from disappointed MBA grads with very similar stories to tell.Your only hope of entering " consulting" is with a tech company such as wipro, cap Gemini, satyam, etc, but they will simply call you a consultant while you are coding up their clients next massive tech development or migrating data from one IBM machine to another.Sorry.
