I am considering a role at EY. Does anyone have any comments regarding the 2 different types of Director level grades at EY. I understand there is an Executive Director and Market Director. Pros / Cons of each?

Im sure I was meant to put a word in there. Perhaps 'impact'FYI... to continue... Exec Director is viewed as a destination grade. Directors are more common within the business.

thanks tom for the comments. follow ups questions: 1. is an exec director seen as a higher grade than sr. manager? 2. is the exec director role part a consulting group (i.e. can it sit in PI or IT advisory) or does it sit outside those service areas?3. can an exec director move to a market director? As you may work out, I am trying to assess the role of an exec director. So any other views would be welcome!

No worries,I've done a really bad level chart below.1) Exec Director is 2 levels above Senior Manager2) Exec Director is a grade in any group of EY like a Snr Mgr would be.3) An Exec Director is above a market director and is a destination grade. It is extremely rare for an Exec Director to move to Partner in EY, however, it's expected for a Market Director to progress up to Partner.Bad level chart below!Partner/ Exec Director^ Director^Senior Manager^Manager

Prob a bit too blunt but...Directors are all trying to sell enough work to be made up to partner. Up it outExec directorship cannot/ won't sell but are typically very capable senior consultants that enable delivery if big earning projects, eg programme managers, head of central pmo functions, etc. no further progression expected

Directors and Partners get sales remit and SM's whilst they don't 'officially' get one, they are expected to deliver sales in order to progress..So in effect SM and above are expected.

Thanks Tom. Could I ask what sort of quota figure are we looking at?If that is sensitive info..... Am on Euro2m. Have recently took on 5m, but with expanded region(s). Sort of my last throw of the dice. Maybe you can tell me where this figure sits?

If sales is part of your role, would avoid the Exec Director position. Unless you are provided with guarantees that they can still move you to Partner (again I must say its extremely rare). In my opinion, that would place you as a good market-facing Director. I believe it is viewed that it should take approx 3 years to get to Partner.
