I am going to be finishing my undergraduate in June, currently studying at Cambridge, and applying to jobs straight afterwards. My concern is my work experience, positions of responsibility and achievements date back to 2011 or beforehand. Most of my work experience is in the financial sector, including an internship in 2011. Will recruiters be concerned about what appears to be a gap upon my CV, or will being at university in some sense account for this period?Any help is much appreciated.S.

Sandy if you are graduating in June then any perceived 'gaps' in your CV really aren't gaps at all. So you had a Summer without an internship or whatever - not a big issue. Although gaining some relevant work experience in the summer is always useful not everyone can do that, and having any working experience at all is still a plus (even working in a supermarket demonstrates you can work with teams, good time keeping etc).If you haven't started already you should be starting your applications now, assuming you know what you want to do.

Sandy, I guess the more important thing that you should think about is 'What kind of work you would want to do'..what are your priorities with respect to 'quality of work vs Money'...'What are your long term aspirations'.This would help you to approach to the world of job search with a clarity of thought. As for the gap, dont worry about it ,as mentioned my Mars that isn't really a gap...Whatever you did , in whatever industry/position etc ..highlight that in your CV and go for it..I am sure you will be all hunky dory.Cheers!!
