I've been unsuccessful at an interview recently. I'm naturally disappointed but no sour grapes whatsover and I'm ready to move on. However I'm not happy with the feedback I've received from HR. I felt I built up a fairly decent rapport with one of the interviewers and was thinking of contacting him directly for some pointers and areas to work on for the future.Could this perhaps be seen as a cheeky/generally bad form-in that it may seem I'm challenging their decision?Thoughts? Thanks

Who cares? If HR are fobbing you off, then bypass them.

Personally if I interview someone and they are unsuccessful the last thing I want is them stalking me and asking for feedback ... If HR aren't giving good feedback that's too bad. Analyse your performance - you probably know where you didn't do so well. Then move on and focus on the next interview. Good luck.

What about polite follow up thank you email the morning after an interview?? Good idea? Probably wouldn't tip it...but any negative connotations?

OK, here's another way of looking at it: What have you got to lose?

Nah. Walk away. Won't do you any good as they won't tell you what they really thought. Why don't you ask for the interview notes? That will have the real answer. Wonder if you can do that. Surely not?(Ps don't really do that if you ever want to have a chance to work with them in the future)

In general, I feel people aren't forthcoming if you ask them for feedback and if they do give you feedback its a whole lot of bull. Think of it this way if someone didn't like you personally but felt you had all the relevant qualifications do you think he/she will say all was good but I didn't like you.Bottom line: It didn't work out which might be a blessing in disguise for you. Move on!
