Hi, Can anyone help me in locating some information on this industry's average turnover rate? I can find UK average but not for management consultancies. If it is on this site then I have missed it and would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction. Thank you in advance. Jane

Hiya Jane,A rule of thumb is that a typical consultant within an "up and out" environment would be expected to last about 2-3 years. In companies that don't have an "up or out" policy, the turnover rates would be lower - not sure by how much, but would expect 6 or 7 years possibly to be typical? Also, bear in mind how the "pyramid" model means that people have to move on in order to progress their careers... (not every analyst will become a senior consultant, and not ever senior consultant will become a partner, and so on... simply because there are fewer SCs than there are analysts and fewer partners than there are SCs etc)Hope that helps a little?

I've heard somewhere (but can't remember where!) that on average consultancy/prof services firms will effectively replace their organisation every 3 years.

Looking on my firm's site - >80% of people joined after me.... Something to think about eh in a firm of nearly 250,000 people...

Accenture has something on their website that shows how many of the population joined after you. However, this includes the full workforce - programmers in Bangalore, nurses in Manila, HR reps in Dublin.UK Consulting is a tiny proportion of the 250k.
