How much value would you put on a work life balance?Assuming you earn 100 in industry (having previously been in consulting) - with 10% travel but very comfortable work:life balance. What % increment would you want to return to consulting just for the fact the work:life balance tilts alot more to work?S

Assuming your scale of 100, it would take atleast 200 to even think about moving back; considering i moved to industry at the same package as ACN and for half the working hours (proper 9-5 and no weekends).

Good question!I'd say a minimum of 50% uplift to even go to the interview and probably 100% to make taking the job a possibility.

and if 100 wasnt just a scale but base pay would you still be asking for £200k to go back?S

Yes I would. If I worked in industry and travelled 10% and worked 9-5 (ish) and no weekends, then my 100K salary would provide a take home after UK tax of £65,310.If I worked in consultancy, travelling up to 100%, some weekends and long hours as standard, not seeing my kids during the week, then I'd want an extra 50K in my pocket. Accounting for tax, that means 200K Gross.

...I should say I dont think I'd GET the 200K, which is why I and so many others are running away from consultancy and most consultants don't want to move to another firm, but OUT of th industry.
