just a bee in my bonnet I need to share. working at a large bank where one of the Big 4 has ben entrenched for many years. there are consultants from that firm here who have been in situ for up to seven years non-stop. now this is not an innovative or best practice kind of place, so it does beg the question - exactly what value do these guys add after the first year or so above a decent internal employee? also, why do they get promoted, with fee increases, at roughly double the speed of the bank employees alongside whom they are working? most of the long timers have never worked at another bank, so have no idea what best or indeed recent practice looks like. all they can offer is 'consulting toolkit' - but I can get that from a decent contractor, plus experience of what good looks like outside. I've just booted several out - Lord help the next client they turn up at..
