Hi All,Without the arrogance, I have more than the average share of qualifications: BSc (Hons), MBA, PhD and even PGCE. With no success in transforming my career from research to management even after my MBA, I even tried setting up a dotcom entity to try and claw back some of the time and monetary investment from my MBA. I spent a good two years trying to sell consultancy reports through my portal and even using third parties to raise the marketing presence of my expertise reports...I'm still awaiting for the first sale five years on. Without a single sale generated and dead broke, I broke away from the online consultancy scene altogether and found a stable existence in education which carried me for four years, hence the PGCE. However the lack of ROI on my MBA has come back to haunt me and really education is the most stressful and lowest paid existence anyone can endure. Needless to say I'm wanting to have a final stab at entering the consulting arena this time with the Australian job market.Your advice would sincerely be appreciated from those who can relate to my personal story. Now that I'm trying the Aussie consulting job market, any short cuts or tips for a novice like me? BTW healthcare is my expert sector which I'm wanting to break into.Regards,WD

Plenty of qualifications, a failed business start up with an implausible idea, but no commercial experience? What was your experience prior to investing in the MBA?

I am considering an MBA. If you don't mind me asking which MBA school did you go to? I have heard that an MBA from a top tier school (Insead, LBS, Wharton etc?) is never a bad investment.

University of Durham Business School. For me it is not so much about the reputation of the business school, it is more about your business acumen and your passion to succeed with your business idea or goal.Hope this helps

Durham Business School is very good. Durham University in the recent years has been continuously rated a top 3 UK University (see Wiki UK University rankings). I know people with Durham MBA, they are very happy and have been doing very good
Durham Business School is very good.
That depends on what you want to do when you leave
Durham University in the recent years has been continuously rated a top 3 UK University (see Wiki UK University rankings)
Durham University reputation doesn't necessarily flow through to its business school...
I know people with Durham MBA, they are very happy and have been doing very good
Most people in consulting would be an unhappy with a sample size of "people". What do you mean by " happy and doing good"? Does their experience bear any relevance to what the person asking the question is looking to do?

If you are looking at the management consulting market in Australia you will need to bring some reasonable consulting skills with you. There are plenty of opportunities being advertised for experienced / Big 4 trained UK consultants in Australia. You could do worse than attempting to target healthcare consulting firms directly. Australia has a very different healthcare market than the UK with plenty of private sector hospitals and clinics - but again you will need skills that are in demand (not sure about the healthcare market in Australia)Your other consideration of course is whether you have the right to work in Australia. If not you will need to be sponsored by an employer or go through the formal migration process.
