Failed in getting an interview with PWC but secured interviews with two pure strategy houses just outside the MBB circle! Has PWC suddenly become very selective? Or could it have been something in my CV and/or cover letter? Thanks

I didn't even get a response to my application... even though I do the same job at another of the Big 4

'two pure strategy house just outside the MB circle' - care to divulge who? Many companies badge themselves as pure 'strategy' when in reality they're glorified marketing/research firms.

I care not to divulge who. I think its quite clear what is meant by strategy houses that fall just outside MBB circle in terms of work/prestige and etc.

One possibility is that they are making waves in the media about the huge hiring binge they have planned, but that this is a ruse to try and attract as many direct applicants to the firm as possible. I've seen both PwC and KPMG making significant claims about their hiring intentions and yet neither seems to be doing much advertising to attract the supposed huge numbers they are looking to attract. A bit suspicious wouldn't you say - or am I just looking in the wrong places?

It clealry isn't, otherwise I wouldn't have asked. By naming the organisations on here you are not jinxing your chances or telling the world of your bragging, I'm just curious that's all. 'Pure' strategy organisations outside MBBB would probably only include OC&C, LEK, AT Kearney, Oliver Wyman possibly. One of these?

Interesting. Very interesting. Maybe they just aren't hiring as much as they would lead people to believe. Now why would they do that? Very interesting indeed.

Curiouser and curiouser...I too applied direct and despite having been selected for interview at a couple of other firms, never even had a response from PWC. It appears that their latest recruitment drive may well be smoke and mirrors. Anyone have any evidence to the contrary?

If you interest strategy houses then you're simply too good for PwC.

One of those, Ace. I had my reasons why I applied to PWC, as well as strategy houses. I am just surprised they wouldn't even want to interview me.

I apllied for a role at PwC recently and got some bloody awful numeric and verbal reasoning tests to do via e-mail. Since then, no comment , feedback or response from them. Having said that it may be that my tests didn't go that well

I have been a client of two sets of PwC consultants lately. One set was good and the other set was awful. The jury is out for me at the moment.
