Hi Guys,When I applied to ACN, I gave my salary as 35000. The 35000 includes all the benefits they offer like Medical Insurance, holiday allowance etc....so it was pretty much a rounded off figure i.e. 35000 approx.I have now been offered a job with ACN. If ACN go to my employer and ask for my salary. they would basically come back and quote 29300. But this does not include benefits and other allowances. Should I worry abt this? OR would ACN just concentrate on whether I am working in the company I quoted? There was no intention of lying...when the profile was created in the accenture website, the job consultant has put 35k as my present salary there. Thats all...Pls advise.

pretty certain HR depts don't give out that kind of information - only you were hired by them between these dates, etc.

without your consent, your previous employer is not allowed to divulge this information to anyone other than the taxman!

In your reference, HR will only tell the new company, your last job title and your start and end dates

£35k is Accenture's A2 banding (which is 6-12 months up from graduate) and they don't hire externally for this level as they have loads of A1s. They will most likley either offer you a C1 grade (£40k ish) if they think you can do the job or just not offer you a job.

Chill. You answered the question the way 99% of people would answer it.And as pointed out - not much chance they will actually be given the figure. They may see it on yoru P45 when you join, but they woul dneed to see you P11D to see th other benefits and ther is no need fo ryou to provide them with that.

Chill-out...don't forget...the bs cuts both ways. I am sure that during the interview process, they have put some positive spin on what they can offer you and how great your career will be. Bottom line is: they will be happy for you to make them LOTS of money....

Dont worry, ACN does not base their offer on what you are currently earning. They consider your skills and do a fitment for you in their grade structure. Depending on where you would fit in, i.e. say C1 , C2 etc they will offer you a salary from that band. There is not much you can negotiate and at the same time even ACN doesnt care how much you actually were earning earlier.

"Dont worry, ACN does not base their offer on what you are currently earning."THEN WHY DO THEY ASK FOR YOUR CURRENT SALARY?

Some truth

It really depends on how your previous salary was. If it was as per market rate then they use it when finalizing your package but if its really below market levels and not on par with ACN standards then they may not consider it.I was on £34k with 7yrs exp (yes, it was that bad) and I was offered C3 with a package of £51k and £2.5k sign on bonus so in my case they surely did not base the offer based on MY previous salary.

Garry ACN will have asked for your current comp for a variety of reasons, none of which are obscure - to evaluate you against your level of experience/peer group etc, to establish whether they have the budget to hire you at a given level, and for internal benchmarking so they can compile comp information when they are looking at what they need to pay. Quoting a full comp rather than base is quite commonplace, so as the others have reassured you, no need to worry. If you are challenged about the discrepancy - which I think would be very very unusual - blame the recruiter who made your application.
