I'm about to start as a C2 at Accenture but a bit worried about the whole idea of counseling out. Does anybody have any knowledge/experience they can share?

When you get to C3 you will have 2 years to make manager. If you do not make it after 2 years you'll be asked to seriously consider your future direction with the company. If you don't take the hint you'll get that friendly tap on the shoulder. However they will also compensate you for getting that tap on the shoulder as arbitrarily sacking people is not really looked upon too well by the authorities. In order to get that compensation you'll also sign away any rights to complain about your situation to any of those authorities.

Newbie, don't worry, this is a common thought. It is however not a valid one.If you have been selected above others for your role then you need to have the self confidence to believe you can perform to the required level. If you continue to doubt yourself your lack of confidence will come across to your colleagues. They will automatically assume you to be incompetent regardless of your actual quality.Chances are you'll be fine, you actually have to be quite weak (and bad at hiding it) to get managed out. Good luck.

Only 5% of the C population are ever "managed out", and only after a year's underperformance (think looow chargeability and s#!tty peer feedback). So if you are already planning a year's worth of slacking and pissing off your fellow C's, then kudos. Otherwise you'll be fine. Mediocrity is not a sackable offense.
