I have offers from IBM GBS and ACN Consulting. I was told by the senior exec that interviewed me that I would be up for Manager level M1 in my first year (I would be going in at C3 level). I don't know how easy it is to move up the ladder at IBM (I have been offered a band 7)Really struggling as I think Accenture would allow me to progress upwards faster but I am concerned that the work life balance and culture at ACN would be much tougher than IBM. I would like a life outside of work, I am prepared to work hard but not doing 60hr/70hr weeks every week.I like to get stuck into projects and can't be that bothered getting too involved in politics but not sure I would fit in with the 'ACN culture' it is the only reason I am edging towards IBM at the moment.Any advice appreciated.

I have a slightly different perspective on this. When i am hiring and I am presented with two candidates (and it happens) from IBM and ACN, its always easier to get the ACNer to move.IBM guys seem completely bought in, on message and reluctant to leave. they love their work. ACN guys seem to searching for identity. Very able, excellent consultants, but all a little weary of standing behind the acn flag.Good luck.

At IBM there are people who have been there a long time and people who haven't. The former may be bought in but the latter generally leave rapidly. It is not a good employer by any definition.
